The Whitehouse Church children’s ministry is facilitated by a fantastic group of volunteers and runs during term times. Our curriculum and resources are kindly provided by ‘The Meeting House’ church (you can check out their webpage here). Their approach teaches stories within the context of the overarching Biblical narrative, so that kids can learn individual stories, where those stories fit in the larger context of the Bible, and where they as people fit into God’s story. Our teaching covers the Old Testament, life of Jesus, and the Early Church.
Each week our teaching is framed around three key elements:
God Story: a portion of the Biblical narrative, looking at key Biblical characters
Life Story: a real life example of kingdom living that brings God Story to life
My Story: application activities
Our curriculum currently targets children between 4-10 years of age to reflect our current demographic, but is easily adapted to suit older children. Our aim is to continually reflect on and evolve our program to meet the needs of the children and families in our community as we grow and change. A crèche room is provided for parents with children and babies under 4 years of age off our main meeting space. The room is stocked with toys and books and aims to allow parents with young kids to engage with the worship and teaching whilst looking after their children.
We have a private Facebook group for our kids ministry where we provide weekly details about our program and let people know about any special activities or information.
We want the best for our kids and ensure that our team of volunteers hold Working with Vulnerable People Cards and that they agree to our Child Protection Policy. In addition to this, the vast majority of our facilitators are qualified primary and early childhood teachers or childcare workers.
If you have any questions about our program please send us a message. We hope to see you and your kids soon!
